'Carême's Piss Boy' was the original name of my blog... I was told by many it was not a good name, but I continuously found it funny and was an inside baseball reference that you would have to look up.  But of course after getting the same thing from more people than I care to admit, it was not meant to be...

Marie-Antoine Carême was a famous and influential French pâtissier during the time of Napoleon Bonaparte. He was working in a patisserie in paris in 1798 where he met French foreign minister Talleyrand who hired him out more regularly, introducing him to more and more upper class individuals in France and around Europe. Born in poverty, he knew the importance of food and was able to find more creative ways than his upper class contemporaries. If napoleon had not taken over and the lower class had not had more upward mobility, who knows where he would have ended up. He was known as the first celebrity chef often being hired out by different European nobility, notably Tsar Alexander I.

Anyway, why did I think the name of the blog would be funny.....?

Carême is a legend and he has no doubt labored for tens of thousands of hours to perfect the skills that every baker knows come with many failures and constant repetition.

I thought that if I had even the knowledge of being the piss boy of the great Marie-Antoine Carême and being around him constantly then I would be 100x better than where my current skills are.

But obviously he lived a long time ago and I'm glad I'm not a piss boy. It is no longer the name of this Blog... So it goes.
